Sinkholes and Land Development Experience

The following are examples of some recently completed projects related to sinkholes performed by MC2. In addition, we have key staff who have worked on numerous residential sinkhole projects for other firms prior to joining our team.

Multiple Markets

MC2 staff have extensive experience (over 1000 sites by current staff) with residential sinkhole investigations typically performed for insurance companies. Services on these projects typically include, but are not limited to SPT borings, hand augers, test pits, GPR and ERI surveys, floor flatness surveys, laboratory testing and final conclusions as to the cause of the problem. Our firm has also provided opinion letters on pending sinkhole cases under review as well as being involved with depositions on sinkhole cases.

The project included the design of a replacement bridge structure along Benjamin Road over Sweetwater Creek in Hillsborough County. MC2 was responsible for performing geotechnical investigations and recommendations for the project. During our initial field explorations, we encountered conditions which indicated the possibility of karst activity at the site. We subsequently performed an Electrical Resistivity Survey at the site which confirmed an anomaly existed. After further investigations, we provided a grouting plan and specifications which were implemented. The project is currently under construction. MC2 services performed included SPT borings, laboratory testing, and repair recommendations.
The project consisted of the design of two (2) new bridges over Euharlee Creek in Bartow County, Georgia. MC2 was responsible for performing geotechnical investigations (SPT borings and laboratory testing) and recommendations for the project. During our initial field explorations, we encountered conditions which indicated the possibility of karst activity at the site. We subsequently performed an Electrical Resistivity Survey at the site which confirmed an anomaly existed.
